We wish all of you a wonderful holiday knowing that OUR Father and Mother the Blessed Virgin will always be inside of us not only at Christmas but all year being them the path to the encounter with Jesus.

Which, like all baby Jesus continue to grow in their hearts and let him sustenance of His Holy Love and we ask Him to help us to be a more united family, that we can grow together, no matter the age, nationality, church or religious group we belong or what language we speak knowing that we have someone in common that has united us, who loves us and will always be for us and that person is our beloved Father God.

He does not ask us anything in return, but that we love and accept ourselves as we are, and we can STATES grow in their love.

Therefore, let us unite in prayer to thank all the gifts and fruits that we have received and continue to receive, and all the love that we receive every day of this wonderful Father who gave us his a family knowing that we will never be alone, and that prayer is the best communication that we all have so we can continue to grow as Catholics.

Lamentamos informarles a todos nuestros hermanos y hermanas que nuestro querido hermano Juan Gabriel Almanzar "Moreno" falleció en la mañana del 9 de julio de 2014.

Dios necesitaba de un ángel para velar por nosotros y llamó a un amigo maravilloso, Dios nos regaló el don de su amistad y sabemos que era y será siempre el mejor amigo de todos.

Todos estamos tristes por la noticia y al mismo tiempo sorprendidos porque Moreno es un ser humano que lleva luz y amor a todos los que le rodean.
Nos sentimos terrible al saber esta noticia y les pedimos que lo tengan en sus oraciones especialmente les pedimos mantengan en oración a su familia, porque sabemos que nuestro querido "Moreno" era el centro de sus vidas.

Por eso le pedimos a todos ustedes, incluso a todos aquellos hermanos que no lo conocían que se únan a nosotros para rezar por él y en especial elevar una oración a su familia.

Pueden hacerlo desde su casa, la escuela, el trabajo, en el tren únamos en cadena de oración para rezar un Rosario en su nombre y en nombre de su familia para que juntos con una oración que podemos sanar su dolor y esperar que Chuito lo lleve en sus brazos y así nuestro querido Moreno nos mirará desde el cielo.

We regret to inform to all our Brothers and Sisters that our beloved brother John Gabriel Almanzar "Moreno" passed away on the morning of July 9 2014.

God need it of an Angel to watch over us and he call a wonderful friend, God give us the gift of his friendship and he was and always will be the best friends of all.

We are all sad for this news and at the same time shocked because he was on human being that bring light to everyone that was around him. We feel terrible for this news specially for his family because we know that our beloved "Moreno" was the center of their lives.

For that reason we ask all of you, even do to those that did not knew him to pray for him and specially for his family.
Joined us from your home, school, work, on the train to pray a Rosary in his name and in the name of his family so together with a prayer we can heal their pain and have Chuito hugging and watching us from heaven.

We will eternally miss you great friend.

¿Conocías a Zach Sobiech?

Tal vez no, pero este joven de apenas 18 años, marcó con sus canciones a millones de personas alrededor del mundo, y su pasión por la vida es un ejemplo del cual hemos de seguir e imitar.

A los 17 años, Zach fue diagnosticado con osteosarcome, un cáncer de huesos raros que es encontrado en los niños.

Con pocos meses de vida, Zach decidió aprovechar todo el tiempo posible, en algo que era para Él una de sus grandes pasiones, la música, la cual le ayudo muchísimo durante este proceso.

Su canción “CLOUDS”, la cual puede ser encontrada en el siguiente link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDC97j6lfyc) se convirtió en un hit el cual tuvo furor en la internet y fue oída no solo en los Estados Unidos, pero también en el mundo entero y en donde artistas del mundo del cine, la televisión y la música se unieron a Zach para que su mensaje sea oído por siempre.

Did you know Zach Sobiech ?

Maybe not, but this young man of just 18 years old, touch with his songs millions of people worldwide, and their passion for life is an example of which we follow and imitate.

At 17, Zach was diagnosed with ostéosarcome a rare bone cancer that is found in children.

With a few months of life, Zach decided to take advantage of his time as long as possible, and do something that was for him one of his great passions, MUSIC, which helped him a lot during this time.

His song "CLOUDS" which can be found at the following link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDC97j6lfyc) became a hit which was an instant success in the internet and was heard not only in the United States, but also in the world and where artists from film, television and music joined Zach for your message to be heard forever.

El Papa Francisco se encontraba hoy en el muro de los Lamentos y al igual que Juan Pablo II y Benedicto XVI, el Papa Francisco se acercó a el muro para depositar una plegaria.

Year after year , this Diocesan newspaper published on the Diocesan JORNDISTAS MARCH , and many will wonder What are Jornadistas March?

 

Walking is an act of faith and sacrifice and not a youth exhibition and this year 2014 and since 1987 the "Caminata Jornadista" is one of the longest public youth outdoors Via Crucis.

Inspired by Rudy Vargas IV who saw a new way to evangelize and also to unite not only groups but also the Parish Jornadista groups.

 

"There is nothing more beautiful than to see young people without fear, walk the streets and sometimes a little dangerous neighborhoods taking the Gospel " .

But here is not only walking, at least 1-2 months before the Team Leaders and Spiritual Directors meet to determine what the years slogan will be and also which can be route or neighborhood to choose.

 

The beauty is the union that grows among the young as working together and spend their time in creating the banner which using the phrase chosen by the leaders of the conference put it into practice.

 

This year Jornadistas, young at age and spirit , started their walk at the Parish Mother Cabrini Shrine , located in Upper Manhattan.

 

The walk began at 8:00 am with a prayer in which the Jornadistas offered as a sacrifice to walk for the love of their neighbor, about 400 Jornadistas who gathered to share, live and profess their love in Christ spiritually walked about 8 Parishes among them we can mention Incarnation and Good Shepard culminating their Spiritual procession in the Church of Santa Rosa of Lima.

 

This year the Walk slogan was "The Lord will fight for you , without you having to worry about anything, Revolution . Exodus 14:14 " 

 

This Bible story closely resembles the essence of the walk done by the Jorndistas , young people know and live the reality that God is the center of their lives, and that this God we proclaim is true to his promise , and it is He who guides them in their daily walk , becoming aware of the sacrifices that Christ spent in his Calvary for our salvation .

 

It is very important to mention the presence of a priest that since 25 years ago continues to inspire young people to walk and evangelize with his example and that is this priest is Monsignor Perfecto Vazquez , Spiritual Director of the Cursillo Movement , which walked with the youth while praying , singing and encouraged the audience with his inspiring presence as there is no age or profession to follow Christ and be a witnesses of his love.

 

The past March, or Caminata as the Jornadistas called it that took place on April 19th marked 21 years since the first time the Jornadistas walked in Manhattan, in 1991 the first walk that was held in Manhattan was at St Emeric and despite the snow that did not scared the Jornadistas, as it was indicated by Father Victor Dallo , cm former Director of the Jornadistas, "THE JORNADISTA COMMUNITY WAS PRESENT MORE tHAN EVER " , and still is despite of bein more than 47 years since their first Jornada took place and 25 from the first Jornadista March(Caminata) of the Diocese of Brooklyn , Queens and Manhattan the youth remain an example of dedication, sacrifice and love of their neighbor always knowing that they are not walking alone, because Christ and the Blessed Virgin who walks not only with us but also within each of our hearts.

A PAINTING , A POPE AND A MOTO

Undoubtedly , Pope Francis is one of the most beloved by his charisma and because he is humble, which is not found easily in some sectors of our Catholic community today.

With his lifestyle where the poor persons will always be first to him, and with his loving actions, he has influenced the lives of people from all walks of life and profession.

Today we talk about David Uhl, which the Jornadista Museum was fortunate to meet and interview .
His impressive work, which is world renowned for his passion and devotion to the paintings related to Harley Davidson , but even more so his work has resonated in the artistic and virtual world especially a work created by Him and commissioned by the company Harley Davidson where celebrate the 110th anniversary of the company which titled " CHANCE ENCOUNTER " or " MEETING TIMELY " where he drew a a priest that looks a lot like the Pope, but as David told us, was not based on the Pope, but best of this story is the emotion that Greg describes it was meeting the most humble person in the world .

When David knew he could meet the Pope and show the bike and the painting and be the spokesman for Harley Davidson handing the Pope on behalf of the company two motorcycles and the original painting, David never imagined what he was going to live in that day and this wonderful event would mark him for the rest of his life .
Seeing this wonderful painting, Pope Francis asked if they could do a postcard and stamp in celebration of his painting, which the artist agreed , while the Pope gave him access to the Vatican Museum and the eyes of this artist changed forever.
That day will stay engraved in his heart and we were honored to be able to live through the experience, a new way of learning more about our Pontiff and understand that living with the humility that has and is the only way to get closer to God and live the Gospel, because in these times of human ignorance, discrimination, superiority and delusions of grandeur and power does not lead to God, but a long road full of bitterness.

Reflect that Christ is after a latent reality that dwells in our hearts and even more lives in the hearts of those who do not understand our humanity, our pains, our dedication and our commitment to serving the needy recalling the Gospel of Mark (10, 17-30 ) to prune really come to Christ we have to leave everything and follow the mundane .

UNA FOTO, UN PAPA Y UNA MOTO

Sin lugar a dudas, el Papa Francisco es una de las personas mas queridas por su carisma y humildad, la cual no es encontrada facilmente entrela comunidad católica de nuestros días.

Con su estilo de vida y de entrega al projimo, especialmente a los pobres, de dinero y de espíritu, a influenciado en la vida de personas de toda clase de vida y profesión.

Hoy queremos hablar de David Uhl, el cual el Museo Jornadista tuvo la dicha de conocer y entrevistar.
Su impresionante trabajo, el cual es conocido mundialmente por su pasión y devoción por las pinturas relacionadas con las motocicletas Harley Davidson, pero mas aún su trabajo ha resonado en el mundo artístico y virtual especialmente una obra creada por Él y encargada por la compania Harley Davidson en donde celebran el 110 aniversario de la compania la cual tituló "CHANCE ENCOUNTER", o "ENCUENTRO OPORTUNO" en donde el dibujó a un Sacerdote muy parecido al Papa, pero como David nos contaba, no ha sido basado en el Papa, pero lo mejor de esta historia es la emoción con la que David nos describe fue el conocer a la persona mas humilde del mundo.

Cuando David supo que podía conocer al Papa y mostrarle el cuadra y ser el vocero de Harley Davidson entregándole al Papa en nombre de dicha companía 2 motocicletas y el cuadro original nunca imaginó lo que le que ese día viviría y lo marcaría por el resto de su vida.

Al ver el papa esta maravilla le pidió si podían hacer una postal en conmemoración de su pintura, lo cual el artista accedió, y al mismo tiempo el Papa le dio acceso al museo del Vaticano y los ojos de este artista cambiaron para siempre.
Ese día le quedo grabado en su corazón y nosotros tuvimos el honor de poder vivir a través de su experiencia, una nueva manera de conocer más a nuestro Pontífice y comprender que viviendo con la humildad que el posee es la única manera de acercarse mas a Dios y vivir el Evangelio, ya que en estos tiempos la ignorancia del ser humano, la discriminación, la superioridad y los delirios de grandeza y potestad no llevan a Dios, sino a un camino largo lleno de amargura.
Reflexionemos pués que Cristo es una realidad latente que habita en nuestros corazones y mas aún habita en el corazón de aquellos que no comprenden nuestra humanidad, nuestros dolores, nuestra entrega y nuestro compromiso al servicio de los necesitados recordando el Evangelio de San Marcos (10,17-30), para pode realmente llegar a Cristo hemos de dejar todo lo mundano y seguirlo.

Don't forget to Congratulate our beloved Jornadista brother Bishop Ed Scharfenberger of Albany, we will like to share some pics of his Installation Mass.


Ed Scharfenberger was born in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
He graduated from Cathedral Preparatory Seminary High School and Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception.
From 1968, he was a seminarian of the North American College in Rome. In 1972 he obtained a degree (summa cum laude) at the Gregorian University.

He received ordination as a priest July 2, 1973 in St. Peter's Basilica at the hands of then-Bishop James Hickey, the future cardinal, then rector of the North American College.
He was incardinated into his native diocese, the Diocese of Brooklyn. In 1977 he completed further studies at the Alphonsian Academy in Rome, and in 1980 at the Catholic University of America.[2]

In addition to pastoral work for decades, he held various roles in the diocesan curia (a member of the diocesan tribunal, judicial vicar, an adviser to the canonical Ordinary, promoter of justice and member of the committee for sexually abused children). From 2013, he was the episcopal vicar for Queens.

On February 11, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him to become bishop of the diocese of Albany. Prior to the appointment, he had served as pastor of St. Matthias Church in Ridgewood, Queens.

He was ordained and installed by Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, on April 10, 2014 in a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Muchos se preguntarán ¿Qué son las Caminatas Jornadistas? Las caminatas son un acto de Fe y sacrificio y no una exibición de los jóvenes siendo este año 2014 y desde el año 1987 uno de los Via Crucis públicos juveniles mas largos al aire libre. Inspiradas por Rudy Vargas IV quien vió una nueva manera de Evangelizar y al mismo tiempo de unir, no solamente a los grupos Parroquiales sino también al Movimiento Jornadista. "No hay nada mas hermoso que ver a los jóvenes sin miedo, caminar por las calles y algunas veces vecindarios un poco peligrosos llevando el Evangelio".

Pero aquí no solo se camina, al menos de 1 a 2 meses antes de la Caminata el Equipo Base y los Directores Espirituales se reúnen para determinar cual será el Logo de la Caminata y también cual puede ser la ruta o el vecindario a escoger.

Lo hermoso es la unión que crece entre los jovenes ya que unidos trabajan y dedican su tiempo en la creación del banner el cual utilizando la frase escogida por los Dirigentes de la Jornada la ponen en practica.

Este año los jóvenes Jornadistas, de edad y espíritu, se trasladaron a la Parroquia Mother Cabrini Shrine, localizada en el alto Manhattan. La caminata comenzó a las 8:00 de la mañana con una oración hecha por el Director Espiritual Padre James Kuroly, junto con el diácono García en donde los jóvenes ofrecieron el sacrificio de la caminata por amor al prójimo, de esta manera los 400 Jornadistas que se reunieron para compartir, vivir y profesar espiritualmente su amor en Cristo recorrieron unas 8 Parroquias entre ellas podemos mencionar Encarnación y Good Shepard culminando su procesión en la Iglesia de Santa Rosa de Lima.

Este año el logo de la Caminata fue “Revolución: Exodo 14:14 El Señor combatirá por ustedes, sin que ustedes tengan que preocuparse por nada." Este relato Bíblico se asemeja muchísimo a la esencia de la Caminata Jorndista, los jóvenes saben y viven la realidad de que Dios es el centro de sus vidas, y que este Dios al que proclaman es fiel a su promesa, y es Él quien los guía en su diario caminar, tomando conciencia de los sacrificios que Cristo pasó en su calvario para nuestra salvación.

Hay que destacar sin lugar a dudas la presencia de una persona que desde hace ya 25 años sigue inspirando a los jóvenes a caminar y a Evangelizar con el ejemplo y ese es el Monseñor Perfecto Vazquez, Director Espiritual de los Cursillos de Cristiandad, el cual caminó y contagió a los jóvenes mientras rezaba, cantaba y animaba a los presentes inspirándoles con su presencia ya que no hay edad ni profesión para seguir a Cristo y ser testigos de su amor.

La Caminata del pasado 19 de Abril marcan 21 años desde la primera vez que los Jornadistas caminaron en Manhattan, en 1991 la primer Caminata que se realizó en Manhattan fue en la Parroquia San Emérico y a pesar de la nieve eso no atemorizó a los Jornadistas pues su presencia, como lo indicaba el Padre Victor Dallo, cm Director por ese entonces de los Jornadistas, "LA COMUNIDAD JORNADISTA ESTUVO MAS PRESENTE QUE NUNCA", y lo sigue estando a pesar de cumplirse mas de 47 años desde la primer Jornada y 25 desde la primer caminata los jóvenes Jornadistas de las Diocesis de Brooklyn, Queens y Manhattan siguen siendo un ejemplo de entrega, sacrificio y amor al prójimo sabiendo siempre que no están caminando solos, sino es Cristo y la Santísima Vírgen quien camina no solamente a nuestro lado sino tambien dentro de cada uno de nuestros corazones.
